it’s good to try new things.

I’ve never been one to try new things, not sure why. I’m kinda always been a “play it safe-er”…I don’t like change (although, I’m coming to realize some change is good). Even though I don’t like new things, I decided to take up an invitation and try something new.

I decided to go someplace new for church (church in itself is not new to me, but where I went was, kinda)…I’ve been to this place before I just felt like going again, this time I kinda have connections, which made a world of difference. So those of you who may be freaking out a bit because you may be getting the wrong idea, settle down…I’m not going anywhere right now…just testing the waters in a sense. Sometimes is goo to step away from comfort, see what is around you, get another perspective on things….this is what i was doing, stepping out. I think sometimes we as Christians get too comfortable and lose sight of God…that’s where I’m at…haven’t lost all connection with Him, but it helps to surround yourself with new people, re-evaluate and seriously seek Him. I find that working at a church and going to the same church is often hard…okay, ALWAYS hard…it’s hard to remember why you do what you do and still stay connected to Him and grow spiritually. It seems when your whole life is wrapped up in what you do, it’s hard to find the balance and not lose your identity in that. Anyways just consider this a little break from comfort…a little vacation. Not going anywhere just trying to find a new identity. Peace Out!

I agree about trying new things. You can’t live your life in a constant state of comfort…where is the faith tested in that life? In comfort we find nothing new, only routine, it’s the easy path. I say break free of the apathetic strings that bind you in a safe place, and seek after what God wants to reveal when all you have to hold onto is Him. That is the place to be.

Robert, You are right, thanks for the words of wisdom. I love you so much. You are very smart and always try to seek what God has for you, I admire you for that.

I think this is really good. I totally understand working here in La and going to the church, I understand even more because I live here, sleep here, eat here…etc. I want to always strive to never be “comfortable.” If we are, how can we tell that we are truly being used by God and not just using our own efforts to “make a difference”? I think being uncomfortable is one of the hardest but best things for us. It is in those times that we discover what our foundation is, who are relying on and what it is we are really after.
I miss you and can’t wait to spend some time with you while I home.
